Village Voice

Village Voice's 10 Best Restaurants in Bushwick - Look, we're not going to BS you here -- despite what your fixie-riding friends might swear, there are better tacos in Bushwick. But this place is still unique among south-of-the-border offerings, and not just because it was canonized by Anthony Bourdain. This is a tortilla factory, see, and that means your masa rounds are freshly formed and griddled to order; they're filled with chorizo, carnitas, or cecina and then topped with salsa you procure from vats near the register. Muddle your way through the notoriously confusing ordering system (write your order on an index card with your name, pay, and then someone will deliver your food to you) and find a seat on the factory floor. TT's Top 10 Tacos in NYC - Everything is superlative and fresh at this low-key tortilla factory. We love the oversized tacos made with carne enchilada ($2.25). The pork is so spicy it makes your mouth tingle--that's where the creamy avocado and iceberg lettuce come in. » Read Full Review

The small kitchen and seating area, carved from a corner of the factory, has two glass walls, so that you can still watch the goings-on at the tortilleria while you eat your tacos...As you would expect, the tortillas are wonderful...The tacos and taquitos are really the things to get here, but if you want to branch out, you could do worse than a tostada. » Read Full Review

The New York Times

The smell of just-cooked tortillas filled the space...A street cart, parked indoors, is the kitchen; a couple of mismatched folding tables flanked by a collection of secondhand chairs makes up the dining area...The menu is similarly sparse: tacos, taquitos, crusty and filling tortas and uninspired tostadas. But when top-notch tacos are available, how much else does one need? » Read Full Review
